On the 4th, the production team of tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama "100 Days of Lies" (directed by Yu In-sik and Kim Yun-jin, written by Ryu Bo-ri, produced by Studio Dragon and Nangman Crew), which will premiere on Saturday, October 10 at 9:10 p.m., released a poster of Lee Ga-kyung (Kim You-jung) and Kim Tae-woong (Park Jin-young) at Gyeongseong Station, where subtle excitement and tension fill the air from their first meeting.
"100 Days of Lies" is a 100-day espionage romance that unfolds when Gyeongseong's best pickpocket turned spy and an elite interpreter at the Japanese Colonial Government's headquarters meet at the heart of the enemy. Based on the material of understanding what lies beneath words through interpretation and the setting of a spy directly planted by the independence army, the drama plans to deliver unique suspense and entertainment.
Director Yu In-sik, who has demonstrated exceptional directing skills through "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" series and "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," has joined forces with writer Ryu Bo-ri, who left deep impressions through delicate writing in works such as "Do You Like Brahms?" The addition of the meeting between Kim You-jung and Park Jin-young further raises expectations.
Kim You-jung, playing Lee Ga-kyung, takes on the role of Gyeongseong's best pickpocket who disguises herself as an intern interpreter at the Japanese Colonial Government. After parting with her mother at age seven, Lee Ga-kyung has lived as a pickpocket at Gyeongseong Station without family, harboring a dream of one day leaving for a place that is neither Joseon nor Japan. Then, she accepts an offer from the Rescue Korea Group and becomes a spy to infiltrate the Government-General.
Park Jin-young, playing Kim Tae-woong, appears as Sato Hideo, adopted son of the Vice Minister of Political Affairs, and an interpreter at the Japanese Colonial Government. Fluent in English, Japanese, and Korean, he returns to Joseon after 10 years following his father. While working as an English interpreter at the Government-General, he faces unexpected changes with the appearance of intern interpreter Geum Seo-hee.
The released poster captures the moment when the fateful connection between the two begins. On the crowded platform at Gyeongseong Station, the two people passing by at close range create subtle tension as they appear conscious of each other. The contrast between the pickpocket hiding her identity and the interpreter looking back with a gaze mixed with suspicion and interest adds intrigue to the relationship that will unfold.
In particular, the text "Gyeongseong, 1932, the most dangerous lie begins" foreshadows the story of the two people whose identities, origins, professions, and even names are tangled in lies.
The production team stated, "Gyeongseong Station is not only where the two meet for the first time but also an important space that opens the prelude to all stories," adding "The relationships of characters coming together at Gyeongseong Station for different reasons and purposes will become entangled from the start." They further requested, "Please watch how this dangerous lie will shake their destinies in the future."
