Actress Lee Min-jung erupted in tears as she confronted a hidden truth from her past: she had stabbed her husband.
Episode 5 of 'Alright, Let's Divorce' [Directed by Joo Sung-woo | Written by Hwang Ji-eon | Produced by CanvasN] showcased Baek Mi-young (Lee Min-jung) unable to hide her dismay at the sudden actions of her husband, Ji Won-ho (Kim Ji-seok), who unexpectedly refused their divorce and returned home.
Baek Mi-young set clear boundaries with Kelvin (Kim Jeong-han), who reminisced about their courtship days while visiting nostalgic locations. Announcing her imminent divorce, Baek Mi-young expressed her firm resolve to completely sever ties with the past, stating definitively that their relationship could no longer continue, regardless of her current circumstances. However, she was visibly shaken after reviewing Ji Won-ho’s legal brief, which declared his 'no intention of divorcing' and his refusal to accept any claims for divorce, alimony, or asset division. This legal maneuver was a strategy orchestrated by Ji Won-ho, who, having mistakenly interpreted a photograph of Baek Mi-young embracing Kelvin as evidence of an affair, collaborated with lawyer Bae Soo-ji (Ahn Nae-sang). Baek Mi-young's attorney, Jeon Chi-hyun (Kim Beop-rae), explained that the opposing party aimed to wear them down until they conceded and vowed a robust counter-response.
Having declared their divorce impossible, Ji Won-ho returned home and initiated 'Operation: Sleeping with the Enemy.' Meanwhile, Ahn Hee-joo (Lee So-yeon) approached Ji Won-ho, feigning a need for friendship, and later helped the heavily intoxicated Ji Won-ho back to his house. Baek Mi-young, who was at home, erupted in fury witnessing this scene. Following a subsequent argument that left both the couple ill with colds, Kelvin and Ahn Hee-joo visited their home, setting off an unstated, palpable tension among the four.
As the couple prepared for their lawsuit, they confronted each other with conflicting accounts of a past assault, which had become the pivotal reason for their divorce. Ji Won-ho asserted his bruises resulted from his attempt to prevent Baek Mi-young from making an extreme decision, while Baek Mi-young tearfully accused him of abandoning her on a cold floor.
Amidst these developments, Baek Mi-young met with Father Kwon (Sung Dong-il), who revealed the painful truth of the past. Ji Won-ho had suffered a car accident in his hurried attempt to return to Baek Mi-young but concealed the incident. Furthermore, he had been stabbed in the stomach while trying to restrain Baek Mi-young, who was brandishing a knife during her pregnancy. As these suppressed memories resurfaced, Baek Mi-young lifted Ji Won-ho's clothing, revealing a distinct stab scar, and broke down in tears.
Anticipation is high for the sixth episode of 'Alright, Let's Divorce,' as viewers wonder what changes will befall Baek Mi-young after she uncovers this heartbreaking truth. The episode airs tonight at 11 PM on KBS Drama and GTV, and will also be available for streaming on TVING and Wavve.
