A24’s romantic thriller ‘The Drama’ successfully concluded its wedding-themed ‘The Encore Premiere’ event, garnering an enthusiastic response from audiences.
‘The Drama’ [Director: Christopher Bogle | Produced by: A24, Square Peg] tells the story of a couple on the brink of marriage, whose perfect wedding week descends into chaos after hidden pasts are revealed. The premiere, held on September 2nd at Megabox COEX, was designed to emulate a real wedding, creating a unique atmosphere where attendees arrived dressed in formal guest attire.
The venue featured a ticketing booth with a guestbook, congratulatory envelopes, and a wedding photo zone featuring the film’s lead actors, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. A reception booth and photo wall, reminiscent of an actual wedding hall, were also set up. Over 700 attendees participated in various programs, including a "Best Guest Look" selection event. Producer Kim Tae-ho, who is venturing into film distribution, drew attention by attending in traditional parent-of-the-couple attire.
Following the screening, audience members delivered witty, "guest-style" reviews, as if they were friends of the characters Emma and Charlie, praising the film's extreme tension and immersive qualities.
Meanwhile, subsequent premiere screenings scheduled for September 5th and 6th, which promised a complimentary A3 dance poster to all attendees, sold out immediately upon tickets going on sale.
‘The Drama,’ already garnering significant buzz for its innovative audience engagement events, is set for its official theatrical release on September 9th.
