Singer Taemin released his new EP 'PHASE 1 : Soft Violence' on August 31 and began full-scale activities.
The album title 'Soft Violence' combines contrasting concepts to express the tension, contradictions, and subtle cracks existing within beauty. By gazing at the hidden side of beauty perfected through the eyes of others, it conveys the message that 'beauty is sometimes cruel.'
In this album, Taemin maintains his own delicate sensibility while expanding his inherent energy to a sharper degree. He expresses himself with a bold attitude, oscillating between Sweet, Bitter, Silent, and Brutal.
The new album features 'FLOAT' and 'Gooey' as double title tracks, each possessing a different temperature. It simultaneously unfolds a diverse spectrum through the sweetly rising 'FLOAT' and the hotly sticky 'Gooey'.
Taemin actively participated in the overall music and concept, incorporating his own story into a total of 11 songs. In addition to the five new songs that were pre-released, such as the intro 'This Is the End', 'Easy Loving You', and 'Skin', six songs including 'Let Me Be the One', 'Sober', and 'Parasite', which were performed at Coachella in the U.S. last April, have been included.
The 'FLOAT' teaser video, released prior to the song's release, foreshadowed a sensual aesthetic by featuring scenes of key making, close-ups of hands and lips, and the contrast between a white space and red paint.
His agency, Galaxy Corporation, stated that the new album allows one to fully feel the evolution and deepened artistic capabilities of Taemin, who has broken familiar molds and proven his own essence.
Taemin's new EP was released on various online music sites at 6 p.m. on August 31. He is then scheduled to continue meeting global fans through his world tour 'LiMiNaL' with performances that transcend boundaries.
