The 22nd Jecheon International Music Film Festival (JIMFF, Executive Director Jang Hang-jun) will hold its opening ceremony on September 3rd at 7:30 p.m. at the Summer Square of Jecheon Arts Center, beginning a six-day journey. With broadcaster Jang Do-yeon and actor Moon Sang-min as hosts, numerous domestic and international film industry figures, including Goodwill Ambassador Ahn Jae-hong, will attend in large numbers.
The opening ceremony red carpet will be graced by renowned South Korean filmmakers including directors Park Chan-wook, Kim Jong-kwan, and Jung Ji-young, as well as actors Song Joong-ki, Yoo Hae-jin, Park So-dam, Eom Tae-gu, Shim Eun-kyung, and Kim Seul-hyun. Key figures from major domestic film festivals, including Shin Chul, Executive Director of the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, and officials from the Ulsan Ulju World Mountain Film Festival, will also participate.
The attendance of overseas guests is also drawing attention. Zhao Jiping, a Chinese master filmmaker and this year's Jecheon Film Music Award recipient, will visit Jecheon. Four of his representative works, including "Farewell My Concubine" and "Raise the Red Lantern," will be screened during the festival. Rafiki Fariala, director of the opening film "Congo Boy," will also attend and directly communicate with audiences on stage.
The opening ceremony will proceed with a special stage performance, followed by the opening declaration by co-organizing committee chairs Lee Sang-cheon and Lee Jang-ho, remarks by Executive Director Jang Hang-jun, a special greeting by Ahn Jae-hong, the Jecheon Film Music Award ceremony, and introductions of competition division judges and the opening film.
Under the slogan "Fly Together," the film festival will be held throughout Jecheon from September 3rd to 8th. A total of 189 films from 51 countries and performances by 37 teams are scheduled. Various programs will take place at venues throughout the city, including the Jecheon Cultural Theater and Jecheon Arts Center. The opening ceremony will be live-streamed through Naver Chzzk.
